Tom Kenyon Sound Healing Intensive Training = Completed!
Over the course of the last two weeks, Melanie and I had the good fortune to attend Sound Healing Expert Tom Kenyon’s Sound Healing Intensive Training in Seattle.
IT WAS AWESOME!
From August 30th through September 3rd, we were immersed in a field of Music and Sound Healing for 12 hours a day. It was great! Usually when we attend these "Intensive" workshops, we leave feeling wiped out and exhausted. I honestly have to say that I came back feeling better and more refreshed than when I left.
Part of that has to do with the format of the class, part of it has to do with the fact that we got "sound treated" several times a day during the class, and part of it has to do with the "downloads" and "transmissions" that we received during the class. Another reason for feeling refreshed when we got home also probably has to do with the fact that Melanie and I gave ourselves one extra day before the class to relax a little bit in Seattle, and went hiking the day after the class on Mt. Ranier. That was Melanie’s idea; she loves Mt. Ranier, and thought it would be a great way to integrate everything. She was right!
This Sound Healing Intensive Training was Tom Kenyon’s most comprehensive training for people interested in using their own voices for healing and transformation. We learned the basic neurophysiology and science of sound, and had the context and experience of actually using sound for transformation and healing. From the first day, Tom had us jump right in using our voices with intention, working with and on each other.
It was definitely a "hands-on" and "experiential" training, that was combined with classroom learning, and we had plenty of "practice time" following each lecture block to start exploring the methods and techniques of Sound Healing for ourselves and with others.
This was not an "intellectually dry" or "theoretical" training, but rather, a rich experiential journey into the healing and transformational powers of sound.
As part of this five-day Sound Healing Intensive, Tom taught us (over 240 students in this particular class) both the science and the mysticism (the esoteric or hidden traditions) of Sound Healing. It is this union of the Western scientific perspective with that of the Eastern Spiritual traditions that made this training a unique platform for learning.
I am a lifelong learner, averaging 100+ hours per year in Continuing Education, and I have never experienced a workshop such as this one. Besides the "left-brain" information, we also gained direct experiences of Sound Healing through individual, dyadic, triadic, and group explorations. As a result of this diversified form of learning, we really left that five days with a grounded theoretical understanding and a practical, functional foundation from which to start our Sound Healing practices.
The best thing: absolutely no experience with Sound Healing or music was required! Melanie has a beautiful voice, but very little experience with singing. She left there making sounds I have never her make, and vice versa.
I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in starting or improving their abilities with using Sound and Music as a healing modality.
Thank you.
P.S. If you sign up for my list (the box is to your right in the upper right hand corner), I can get you the replay of the Sound Healing Expert Interview with Tom Kenyon from a few weeks ago!
